Kollam: Indian Institute of Infrastructure and Construction has started a national-level workshop on July 6, titled ‘PLACEX ’20’ to identify the current trends in skilling across the country. This will include immediate skill needs and future skills, current academia-industry skill gap, possible industry interventions, and immediate placement opportunities in different sector skill councils. The two-day workshop will be conducted at IIIC Campus, Chavara, Kollam, through an online platform.
Experts from industry and academia, government officials, ULCCS, and potential employers are participating in the workshop. The event will be a platform to identify appropriate skills for the 21st Century in tune with National Skill Policy and to formulate appropriate strategies in the area of skill development and employability enhancement.
Additional Chief Secretary, Labour & Skills department, Govt of Kerala, Satyajeet Rajan IAS virtually inaugurated the programme on July 6 at 10 am. The keynote address on ‘Skilling in Post-COVID Era’ was delivered by Nagendran Sundararajan, Head of EduTech Business at Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T Ltd.)
Dr TP Sethumadhavan, Director, UL Education welcomed the gathering. ULCCS Chairman Remeshan Paleri presided over the function. Dr G Shreekumar, Director IIIC, Chandrasekar S. IAS, Managing Director, KASE & Director of Training/ State Apprenticeship Advisor, Government of Kerala, Shaju S, MD, ULCCS Ltd, Raveendran Kasturi, Group CEO, ULCCS Ltd and Raghavan K, Director (Admn.), UL Education also attended the inaugural ceremony.
